THE WAR

On the evening of February 24, 2022, I will never forget the call I received from my interpreter, Tanya. I was in California speaking for God's Hidden Treasures. She was terrified, they could hear explosions

and we realized that life as we knew it in Ukraine had forever changed, the war had started.

As we contacted the rest of the GHT staff, we directed them all to go to the office. We divided all the cash we had between the employees, not knowing if we would ever see each other again. Such a painful and heartbreaking time!

Several of our employees evacuated to Europe with their children and several saw their children and grandchildren evacuate to Europe also. The rest of the staff stayed and began helping with the war.

We began to evacuate people to Poland or Slovakia - first some of the people we help who are disabled, and later many other people who called for help. Using our two vans, the work began.

Vadim and another driver we hired spent countless hours driving back and forth to those borders. Many trips lasted close to 17 hours. On the way back they would drive to Lviv and pick up humanitarian aid and bring it back for distribution to those in need.

We quickly became involved in helping refugees who had fled from other parts of Ukraine that were hit much harder than we were. Our help to refugees included food packages, hygiene products, new baby kits for pregnant women, backpacks and school supplies for children,

generators and more. There was, and is, no end to the needs. At the same time we were trying to keep up our regular ministry. We were being stretched and molded into this new wartime era.

We were contacted by several Chaplains we already knew. They were driving to the war zones and giving food, medicines, generators, clothing, and of course Bibles and Christian literature. They asked us to help supply their vans, and so we began to do it. I cannot put into words the admiration and respect I have for those men who bravely go into the most dangerous places, taking these life giving supplies.

As the war has continued, our help has expanded into many other areas, including buying and distributing warm winter clothing for soldiers to keep them from freezing to death, emergency

blankets to help keep wounded soldiers from going into shock, waterpurification tubes for soldiers who have no access to clean water, simple medicines, and even treats like cookies and fresh bread!

As we heard of many clinics in the war zones being stripped bare by Russian soldiers during occupation and many others which were destroyed, we began a project to help re-supply them. To

date we have provided medical supplies to 18 clinics located in the war zones throughout Ukraine. When the dam in the Kherson region was destroyed by the Russians, we were sending, via our

Chaplains, cases of drinking water, water purification pills, disinfectants, medicines and more. As long as the war continues, GHT will continue to be a light in this terrible darkness wherever we

are sent or asked to help.
